Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the post office. I think it is very generous of you to pay for the postage out of your pocket and my vote is that you do whatever you are most comfortable with. I think it is totally reasonable to have one winner a week...and if you really feel badly about limiting the number of winners, perhaps you can have occasional giveaways for smaller items that can be put in an envelope, like bookmarks or other smaller swag items.
I agree with the ladies above. I will still come regardless of your decision and understand why you would like to track them. I am sorry for the issues that you have had though. I enjoy reading your posts. ;)
I too say do what you think best. I definitely know what a pain the post office can be. I like the idea of having a choice from your stash for those books I may not really be interested in - that way everyone gets a book that they really want. Thanks for all you do. Congrats to this weeks winners.
I agree that the postage can be a big expense but also wondered if you ever get an ebooks? I know a lot of blogs offer the option of ebooks or a "real" book. Since with eboks you wouldn't have the expense of the post office or having to track the mail that might also be an option you want to check into.
I know that some ebook can even be sent in pdf format and then downloaded by saving to a computer and then either read on-line or downloaded to a Kindle, Nook, etc. It might be worth looking into.
If not I think that your idea of having just one or two winners a week is a good idea. You could also add that a winner could only get one "prize" a month so that the winners are spread more evenly between the posters.
I'm sure a lot of your followers and not just me come to your blog for the content and reviews not just the giveaways. How else are we to learn more about the authors and books without out your great imput!
I know it's going to be a tough decision deciding which direction to go in and wish you luck making a difficult decision.
I hope all these comments help you out. And I don't think you would loose people by doing one winner a week. If it makes your life easier I say go for it.
I'd say do what is best and easiest for you! I love seeing your name in my inbox and I still visit and read the reviews (even if I don't comment, sorry). I will make more of a effort to just drop a note and stop lurking. I appreciate your generosity and I know that this is all expense out of your own pocket so please don't feel like you have to cater to us... I for one am very appreciative if you even gave one book out a year! I'm in awe that you can maintain and create such an enjoyable blog :)
Honestly, if not for you, wouldn't get to know writers that I get to love after reading your posts and reviews (ex. Jill Shalvis, I so love her now!). It's also because of you that I got to appreciate new genres (only read historical romance books before) So whatever you decide, we will support you. You make our lives easier when deciding what new book to read! :D

ReplyDeleteOf course I would still come!!!! It's your blog to run as you want. I'm for whatever you want to do.
ReplyDeleteI would still come to the blog no matter what.

ReplyDeleteWhatever you feel you want to do is okay by me. I know that postage can run very high, and to pay for tracking information, also add's to the cost.
ReplyDeleteYou can print postage through Paypal, and it comes with delivery tracking for an additional 19c.
I love supporting and visiting your blog. Thanks for all that you do for us.
Congratulations to this week's winners.

ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone! Doing what's best for you is what we all want. I will also continue to stop by your blog to read your reviews and chat.
