Have you ever told a "tall tale?"
Secrets
of a Wedding Night by Valerie Bowman
How
fine is the line between a lie and stretching the truth?
Lily
Andrews decides to open the eyes of young, innocent women of the Ton to the
truth about marriage. Specifically the
first night as husband and wife and the magic that should be there but never
is. More than one woman has cried off because
of this scandalous information including the fiancée of Devon Morgan, the
Marquis of Colton. (click the review link here to mark as helpful)
Lily
and Devon have a history together that has pleasant memories but one horrific
nightmare that ended their relationship.
Instead of running off with her to elope, he ran from her forcing a
marriage upon Lily she did not desire.
Devon is ever the risk taker and has decided to show this young widow exactly
how wondrous a night in his bed could be.
Lily swears she can withstand the temptation but is she strong enough to
resist those breath taking kisses he keeps showering upon her?
The
Ton believes Lily to be a carefree widow blowing through her late husband’s
money and they see Devon as a rake of the worst sort. Neither of these two can live up to
expectations nor do they care to, but staying financially afloat is the number
one priority. Lily has her sister’s
reputation to protect and Devon has someone to insulate from scrutiny that not
even Lily knows about.

ReplyDeleteNice review, makes me wonder about a lot of parts in the book =) I like that these two seem to get a second chance at love too.
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice review. Don't think I have.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary!
ReplyDeleteI loved your comments Valerie and Secrets of a Wedding Night! I was thrilled when I checked her website and found out that she has two more books in her Secrets series coming out, Secrets of a Runnaway Bride and Secrets of a Scandolous Marriage!
I'm always looking for new or "new to me" authors and your definately my go-to blog when I'm looking for a great book to read!
The one time I've learned to use that "fine line" of stetching the truth is with my mother-in-law! Believe me when she asks you a question you definately DON"T want to tell her the "honest" truth!
I love the sounds of this book. It catches my eye every time I read about it.
ReplyDeleteSounds fun. As for a tall tale, maybe, when i was a kid trying to impress a bully!
ReplyDeleteWow! 5 stars? This should be good (though I have to make an Amazon account to be able to vote :( ) Regarding the tall tale, yes, a couple of times, that was also the time I started writing them in my notebook and let my classmates read them. Wanted to be a writer ever since I was still a kid.
ReplyDeleteGreat review and something I would enjoy. No, I'm a horrible liar and don't even try lol.
ReplyDeleteI can't tell a story/joke to save my life and I'm a lousy liar so there haven't been any tall tales for me.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have told any tale tales. It's just not something I'm able to do.
ReplyDeleteI have told a tall tale in my past.
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm a good person and never told a lie, and now my tongue is turning black. LOL - I've read this book, and really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI've read this book, and really loved it. Good luck to everybody.
DeleteYes.... I have to tell things to get my daughter to eat and behave sometimes!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! I loved this book....I guess it depends on the lie....my mother used to tell us that liver was really sandwich steaks!!!!
ReplyDeleteI also have told a tale or two in the past.
I may have told a small fib here or there, but usually nothing major as I'm a terrible liar, lol.
ReplyDeleteHonesty is very important to me. I'm sure as a child I told "tall tales;" but no, not as an adult.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I have...not recently, but I'm sure I've told a tall tale in the past.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Mary! I'm so glad you enjoyed Secrets of a Wedding Night!
